Day 3 Alleppey – Athirappally- Guruvayoor 250km 5 Hours

After the breakfast, travel to Athirappally waterfalls and Ezhattumukham Nature Village. Visit Punnathoore Elephant sanctuary in the evening at Guruvayur. Night stay in Ac Rooms in the Hotel.
 
Day 4 : Guruvayur – Kadambuzha Temple– Wayanad 190 km 5 hours

Travel to Waynad in the morning. Kalpetta is the headquarters of and the gateway to Wayanad. Kalpetta is home to tea and coffee plantations and is an important trading centre for spices.
 
Places of interest around Kalpetta include the Kanthanpara and Soochippara waterfalls; and Pookkot freshwater lake (boating, aquarium, and spices and handicrafts shopping).
 
Chembra peak-At 2100 mts above mean sea level, Chembra is the highest peak in Wayanad and is ideal for trekking. Climbing this peak is a challenging mountaineering endeavour and would take a full day scenic beauty of Wayanad, which is visible from the top of Chembra, is very exhilarating. The surrounding areas offer exceptional photo opportunities. Camping on the peak is an unforgettable experience. District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides, sleeping bags, canvases, huts and trekking implements on hire.

Banasura Sagar project-21 kms north east of Kalpetta. Situated at Padinjarathara. A mini hydel project with the largest earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia is being built here. The Banasura project precincts are an ideal starting point for treks to the <em>Banasura Peak</em>. A quaint feature is a series of islands that were formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas.

Meenmutty falls-An interesting 2 km jungle trek off the main Ooty road, Meenmutty is the largest and most spectacular waterfall in Wayanad. A unique feature is that water drops about 300 metres over three stages.

Jain Temple at Puliyarmala-4 kms north of Kalpetta. This old temple is dedicated to Ananthanatha Swami, one of the most revered Jain Saint.
 
Edakkal caves-12 kms from Sulthan Bathery. 3 caves are located at a height of 1000 mts on Ambukuthi mala near Ambalavayal. The new stone age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves at Edakkal are the evidence of the civilizations that existed in the regions in the pre-historic times. The caves can be accessed only by a 1Km trekking trail from Edakkal. Morning hours are the best time to visit these caves. Entry is permitted only upto 1700 hrs. An interesting trek up of the <em>Ambukuthi Hill</em> near Ambalavayal town takes you to this fascinating neolithic cave site. Etchings found on the walls of these caves have drawn the serious attention of archeologists and historians worldwide.
 
Wayanad wild life sanctuary, Muthanga-Established in 1973, the Wayanad wild life sanctuary is contiguous to the protected area network of <em>Nagarhole and Bandipur</em> of Karnataka on the north-east and <em>Muthumalai</em> of TamilNadu on south-east. Rich in bio-diversity, the sanctuary is an integral part of the <em>Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve</em>, which has been established with the specific objective of conserving the biological heritage of the region. The sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. The management lays emphasis on scientific conservation with due consideration for the general life styles of tribals and others who live in and around the forest.
 
Day- 05: Tirunelli Temple visit and Wayanad Sightseeing

Thirunelli Temple is the only temple in the world where the devotees can perform all the rituals related to one&rsquo;s life, starting from birth to death and life after death.
 
It is one of the most ancient temples in Kerala. It is believed that here the prathishta of Lord Vishnu was performed by Lord Brahma. It is also known as &#39;&#39;Sahyamala Kshetram&#39;&#39; and &#39;&#39;Kashi of the South&#39;&#39;.Thirunelli Temple draws pilgrims from allover, primarily for ancestral rites. The rituals are performed on the banks of the stream Papanasini which flows down from Mount Brahmagiri.
 
It is believed that this stream has divine power to dissolve sins of all the mortals. Another major attraction of the temple is the holy rock where people pray for their forefathers.
 
Day 6: Tirunelli, Parasinikadavu &ndash; Mangalore :: 280km :: 7 hours

Travel to Parasinikadavu temple after the breakfast. Parassinikkadavu is noted for the famous Muthappan temple where people go for worshipping Sree Muthappan. This is the only Hindu Temple in Kerala where a Theyyam performance is a daily ritual offering.

Kadri Manjunath Temple 5kms
 
This square temple 5 km from the hotel, with its nine water tanks nestling at the foot of the hill, is a popular destination for pilgrims. Dating to around 1068 A.D., the temple is said to be the oldest in south India.
 
Mangaladevi Temple 4kms
 
Just three kilometres from the city lies the temple from which Mangalore derived its name - the Mangaladevi temple. This temple was built by the Ballal family of Attavar in memory of a Princess of Kerala. This temple has an influence on the name and importance of Mangalore. The temple built in memory of the princess of Malabar Mangale in the 10th century. The Goddess Mangale is worshipped as Shakti.

Botanical Garden: Botanical gardens are a major tourist attraction for those who visit Ooty, They sprawl over 50-acres and lie on the lower slopes of Dodabetta peak, which is the highest point in Ooty. The Gardens have well over 650 species of plants and trees, including a fossil of a tree, which is believed to be more than 20 million years old. The garden is very popular with nature lovers and those who long to walk among greenery and see rare ferns and shrubs up close.

Kalhatty Falls:The Kalhatty falls are located on the Kalhatty slopes at about 13-km from Udhagamandalam on the Udhagamandalam - Mysore Kalhatty ghat road. Also known as the KalahastiFalls, the water here cascades down a height of 122m.
 
Kandal Cross Shrine: Kandal cross, a Roman Catholic Shrine considered, as the Jerusalem of the East is located in Udhagamandalam in Tamil Nadu. The Nilgiri Catholics consider it as the Calvary of Tamil Nadu.

An irregular &#39;L&#39; shaped lake that provides ample boating options amidst picturesque settings. At the end of the lake there is a children&#39;s park, adeer park, a mini-garden and local ponies for joy rides.

St Stephen&rsquo;s Church, Ooty:Built in the 1820&rsquo;s on the site of an old Toda temple, the St. Stephen&rsquo;s Church is a small Gothic style church whose structure was constructed from the wood that was procured from Tipu Sultans palace at Srirangapatnam. One of Ooty&rsquo;s first colonial structures, the most significant feature of the St.Stephen&rsquo;s Church is its gallery which is worth a visit and its Clock tower which shows the marching forth of time and shows men the right time.
